Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s basketball scores over 100 in home opener

The Wolf Pack dominated in The Den Monday night to earn their first win of the season

NEW ORLEANS – The Loyola Wolf Pack hit the century mark Monday night in The Den, taking down Texas College, 107-82, in their home opener. It was Loyola's first win of the season after falling in its season opener at LSU Alexandria last Thursday.

The Pack will host Louisiana Christian at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

The two teams traded the lead a couple of times through the first four-plus minutes, as two 3-pointers by Markuss Sipko kept the score tied, 9-9. Kameron Johnson added two 3s as well, 15-13, and that prompted a 14-0 run that saw Loyola take a 26-13 lead. Kosta Bjelicic scored three straight baskets during that stretch.

Bjelicic got into double figures a couple of minutes later to keep it a double-digit lead, 32-22, with more than eight minutes until halftime. Reece Seichnaydre hit one more from long range, then Johnson became the second player to hit double figures, 39-25, with more than five minutes left in the first half. Jaylen Peters had back-to-back scores, 46-31, and Michael Mouton made back-to-back 3-pointers to give Loyola a 2-point lead at the break, 58-38.

Loyola kept up its same pace in the second half. Sipko, Johnson, Bjelicic and Seicshnaydre gave the team four different scorers in the early going, 67-46. Bjelicic reached the 20-point mark with less than 12 minutes to go in the game, 71-54, then O'Neill Connolly made a couple of 3s near the halfway point of the half, 81-58.

The Wolf Pack continued their dominance for the rest of the game. Cayden Branch, Langston Adams Jr., and Jackson Kinzig all scored their first points of the season down the stretch. Georgios Vassilakis also added five points to give Loyola 11 players with points in the contest.

Pack Facts

  • Loyola's 107 points were the most for the team since it scored 110 against Xavier last season. The Wolf Pack needed four overtimes to reach that number on Nov. 4, 2025, while the team scored its 107 points on Monday in regulation.

  • Loyola had six players score in double figures: Kosta Bjelicic (25), Kameron Johnson (18), Markuss Sipko (12), O'Neill Connolly (11), Michael Mouton (11), and Jaylen Peters (11).

  • Bjelicic's 25-point game is the second straight game scoring at least that total. He's averaging 27 points in Loyola's two games this season.

  • Bjelicic was also a perfect 8-for-8 from the field, and he was also the last Wolf Pack player to accomplish that feat (minimum five attempts), when he went 6-for-6 on Feb. 7, 2026, against Thomas.

  • Led by Sipko's three, the Wolf Pack drained 13 3-pointers in the game. That happened only twice last season.

  • Jaylen Peters added 10 rebounds to go along with his 11 points. That's his second career double-double.

  • After tallying just 13 assists in the season-opening loss last week, Loyola had 26 Monday night. That's the most since Jan. 29, 2026, when the Pack had 27 against Dalton State.

  • Georgios Vassilakis pulled down nine rebounds, which is one away from his career high set last season.
