Box Score Wolf Pack now 10-0 in the SSAC

The No. 24 Loyola University New Orleans Women's Basketball team capped off a two-game home stand on Saturday, welcoming William Carey to The Den for a Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) showdown.
Despite spending a majority of the first half down, the Wolf Pack battled back to earn the 71-62 victory and earn their ninth-straight win.
With the victory, Loyola improves to 15-3 on the year behind a perfect 10-0 mark in the SSAC.
The home team ended the first quarter trailing 18-13 and spent a majority of the first half playing from behind. Down 35-26 with 2:57 to go before halftime, Loyola manufactured 12-unanswered points to claim the 38-35 advantage heading into the locker rooms.
Loyola turned to the long ball to keep the lead in the third, as back-to-back triples by Jr. F Caroline Gonzalez (Colleyville, Texas/Colleyville Heritage) put the Wolf Pack up 51-45 with 2:40 to go in the quarter. Loyola put the clamps down defensively in the fourth quarter, holding William Carey to just four points in the final six minutes, to claim the 71-62 come-from-behind victory.
Loyola shot 19-of-49 (38%) from the floor and 8-of-20 (40%) from beyond the arc. Despite the loss, the Lady Crusaders held the statistical edge in assists (15-11), steals (9-7) and turnovers (14-17).
Sr. G Briana Oglesby (Baton Rouge, La./University Laboratory School) led the Wolf Pack with 19 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the floor. After recording a career-high 22 points last game, So. G Zoie Miller(Frisco, Texas/Lone Star High School) chipped in with 10 points, five rebounds and three assists on Saturday.
For the Lady Crusaders, Alyson Johnson poured in a game-high 21 points to go with five rebounds.
Loyola hits the road for its next two games, starting with a matchup against Martin Methodist on January 23rd.
