Coming off a four-game road trip, the No. 24 Loyola University New Orleans Women's Basketball team returned home on Thursday evening to face off against Blue Mountain College in a Southern States Athletics Conference (SSAC) showdown.
Powered by So. G Zoe Miller's (Frisco, Texas/Lone Star High School)career-high 22 points, the Wolf Pack cruised to the 95-57 victory inside The Den.
With the win, the Wolf Pack earn their eighth-straight victory to improve to 14-3 on the year. Loyola also remains perfect in the SSAC, bumping its record to 9-0 after Thursday's triumph.
Miller led all scorers with 22 points on an impressive 7-of-9 shooting. Jr. FMeghan Temple (Houston, Texas/Klein) went a perfect 7-for-7 from the field for 14 points, while R-So. G Di'Mond Jackson (Baton Rouge, La./University Arkansas Little Rock) chipped in a team-high eight assists and seven rebounds to go along with five points.
Kristen Milewski led the Toppers with nine points and Lauren Ashley Collinsadded four points and a team-high five boards in the loss.
Loyola employed full court pressure for a majority of the game, collecting 12 steals while forcing 14 turnovers. The Wolf Pack held the convincing 46-35 rebounding advantage on Thursday, while dishing out 24 assists compared to just nine by Blue Mountain College.
Loyola got on the board first and never looked back, ending the first quarter with a 24-6 lead. A field goal by Sr. G Briana Oglesby (Baton Rouge, La./University Laboratory School) at the 2:08 mark in the second gave the home team their largest lead of the first half at 47-13. The third quarter was more of the same for the Wolf Pack and after the first three quarters of action, Loyola led 75-40. Loyola got its largest lead of the game in the fourth quarter, following Fr. G Menley Long's(Brookland, Ark./Brookland) first-career basket at the 5:32 mark to put the Wolf Pack up 91-46. When the smoke cleared, Loyola emerged victories 95-57.
The 95 points against the Toppers are the most for The Wolf Pack this season.
Loyola returns to action on Saturday. Jan. 23, welcoming William Carey to The Den for a game at 2:00 p.m.
