(Mobile, Ala.) The ninth ranked Loyola University New Orleans women's basketball team defeated Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) opponent University of Mobile 66-53 tonight in Mobile, Alabama. With this win, the Wolf Pack moves to 22-2 on the season and 13-2 in SSAC competition.
Senior Janeicia Neely posted a game-high 29 points in the win over the Rams - only one point shy of tying her career-high 30 points set earlier this season. This marks the 10th time this season that Neely has recorded 20 or more points in a game. She knocked down 10 of her 14 field goal attempts and went 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, while also grabbing six boards and dishing out four assists.
Sophomore Meghan Temple added 17 points on the night, going 6-of-9 from the field and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. Temple also tallied eight rebounds and two blocks, while Adrianne Sloboh led the Pack's defensive effort with nine boards in the win. Sloboh also chipped in eight points against the Rams, finishing the night on 50% shooting.
The Wolf Pack shot 46% from the field, while holding the Rams to make just 30% of their attempts from the field. Loyola's defense also forced the Rams to convert only two of their 16 shots from beyond the arc.
Jakela Johnson led the scoring effort for the Rams (13-11, 8-7 SSAC) with 15 points. Taneequa Myers led the defensive effort with 10 rebounds, while Johnson added seven boards. Myers also notched nine points on the night.
The Wolf Pack will return home and resume action this Saturday, February 21 as they face SSAC competitor William Carey University for the second time this season at 2 p.m.
