The sixth-ranked Loyola University New Orleans women's basketball team fell 82-74 tonight in The Den against Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) opponent Blue Mountain College. This is the Wolf Pack's first loss in seven games, with their last loss coming against SSAC rival Bethel University on January 15.
Senior Janeicia Neely led the scoring effort for the Wolf Pack (20-2, 11-2 SSAC) with 28 points. Neely also dished out three assists on the night. Sophomore Meghan Temple posted her eighth double-double of the year with 16 points and 14 rebounds. She shot 67% from the field and made eight of her nine free throw attempts. Junior Adrianne Sloboh grabbed eight rebounds and compiled three assists, while senior Megan Whittaker added nine points and three assists.
The Wolf Pack shot 39% from the field and a tough 24% from beyond the arc, which marks their lowest three-point field goal percentage in a game this year. The Toppers finished the night shooting 42% from the field and an impressive 56% from three-point range.
Four members of the Toppers (11-10, 6-8 SSAC) scored in double-digits, led by Kristen Milewski's 23. Andrea Lewis chipped in 19 points, while Kati Prince and Bryana Davis added 15 and 14, respectively. Lewis and Madison McCreless led the defensive effort with six boards, apiece, while Prince and Davis each contributed three assists. McCreless also tallied four steals on the night.
The Wolf Pack will resume action this Saturday, February 14 as they take on SSAC competitor Faulkner University at 2 p.m.
