Loyola New Orleans names Triche head competitive cheer and dance coach

Michaela Triche brings NAIA and NCA National Championship experience to the Wolf Pack

NEW ORLEANS – Loyola University New Orleans Athletics has announced the hiring of Michaela Triche as the Wolf Pack's new head competitive cheer and dance coach, bringing an accomplished competitive cheerleading background and extensive coaching experience to the program.
 

"Michaela brings championship-level experience and a strong connection to the New Orleans cheer and dance community," Loyola Assistant Vice President for Athletics Brett Simpson said. "She has a clear vision for building our program." She was a successful college athlete at Texas A&M. As a coach, she has a passion for developing student-athletes that makes her an outstanding fit for Loyola. We're excited about the energy and leadership she will bring to Wolf Pack Spirit Groups."
 

Triche joins Loyola after more than five years of coaching experience, including two seasons as an assistant cheerleading coach at Xavier University from 2021-23. During her time at Xavier, she helped lead a program that captured NAIA and NCA national championships. She has also coached multiple competitive programs at Louisiana Cheer-n-Tumble Academy and Tiger Rec since 2021, working with athletes ranging from the elementary level through college.
 

"Cheer has given me so much throughout my life, and stepping into this role feels like an incredible opportunity to give that same passion back," Triche said. "I'm beyond excited to lead Loyola Cheer and Dance and to build a program centered around growth, excellence, and creating something these athletes can truly call their own."
 

A two-time NCA collegiate national champion as a member of the Texas A&M cheerleading team, Triche competed as an athlete and point flyer from 2017-21. She went on to continue her career as a New Orleans Saints Cheerleader, serving as a member and captain from 2021-25. She was also named Rookie of the Year for the 2021-22 season.
 

In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Triche currently serves as a gym director, coach and social media manager at Louisiana Cheer-n-Tumble Academy and Tiger Rec. She also works as a traditional and game day choreographer and has experience creating routines across Levels 1-7.
 

Triche is USA Cheer certified and has a thorough understanding of UCA, NCA and NAIA rules. She has also served as a judge for NAIA competitive cheer competitions and has competed and coached teams that have won NCA College Nationals, UCA High School Nationals and NAIA Nationals.
 

A 2021 graduate of Texas A&M University, Triche earned a bachelor's degree in international studies with a concentration in politics and diplomacy. She also studied Spanish, global economics and international studies at Nebrija Universidad in Madrid, Spain.
