NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans competitive cheer and dance teams competed at Xavier's Battle in the Big Easy over the weekend. The dance team participated in two events each day while the cheer team performed once over the weekend.Â
Loyola dance earned a head-to-head win over Texas A&M-Texarkana on Friday before placing third in a four-team competition and first in a triangular on Saturday. The Wolf Pack started the weekend by scoring a 63.50 for their first dual against TAMUT, which scored a 46.43. Loyola received the same score in a dual against Our Lady of the Lake (Texas), but the Saints earned a 71.47 to win that dual. On Saturday, Loyola bumped up its score to 66.43 to place third out of four teams (Dillard, OLLU and TAMUT), then the Pack won a competition against two squads (Dillard and TAMUT) with a score of 67.47.Â

The Loyola cheer team put a 81.73 in its lone competition of the weekend, but Tennessee Southern won the head-to-head with an 85.67.Â
