MONTGOMERY, Ala. – For the second time this season, junior women's basketball student-athlete Alissa O'Dell has earned the Southern States Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week title. O'Dell helped the Wolf Pack to a 3-0 week on the road with a career-best performance against Abraham Baldwin on Thursday.
O'Dell was also named SSAC Offensive Player of the Week in December, and this marks the fifth conference weekly award for the Loyola women's basketball program this season.
Loyola defeated non-conference rival Dillard on Monday to kick off the week, then took down SSAC foes Abraham Baldwin and Thomas to move its winning streak to 10 straight. The Pack is now 14-2 overall and 6-1 in league play with two home conference games on tap this week in The Den.
O'Dell started the week with a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double in a 78-70 win over the Bleu Devils to complete the two-game season sweep of Loyola's cross-town rival. Then, O'Dell had a monster game against ABAC three days later, scoring a career-high 32 points with 11 rebounds in the 77-51 win. To cap off the week, the Zachary, Louisiana, native scored 21 more points with four rebounds in an 86-54 win over the Night Hawks on Saturday. Eleven of her 25 rebounds throughout the week were on the offensive boards as well.
O'Dell leads the Wolf Pack with 8.8 rebounds per game, which ranks fifth in the SSAC, and she is second on the team with 16.1 points per game, which ranks fourth in the conference. Her 55.2 field goal percentage also ranks second in the SSAC.
