Game 1: Mobile 10, #11 Loyola 2
Trailing by eight runs, Loyola pushed its only two runs across in the sixth inning. Garrett Felix reached on a fielder's choice and Cole Romero put two runners on base with a two-out single. Collin Zeringue delivered the two-RBI double during the next at-bat. The Rams, though, scored two more runs in the bottom half of the frame to go back up eight, 10-2.Â
Â
Mobile scored two runs in the first and one in the second to take an early 3-0 lead. Then a five-run fourth inning built the 8-0 advantage.Â
Â
Game 2: #11 Loyola 15, Mobile 4
The Rams, again, scored early, this time taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning. That score held until Loyola could get on the board in the fifth when Romero smacked a three-run home run to put Loyola on top, 3-2. Mobile would answer in its half of the frame, though, tying the game, 3-3.Â
Â
The Wolf Pack scored 12 straight runs in the final four innings before Mobile added one in the bottom of the ninth. Felix notched another three-run home run in the sixth, 6-3, and Jaxon Buratt and Landon Manson each had RBI singles to make it an 8-3 lead. In the seventh, Romero recorded a sacrifice fly and Brandon Mooney came home later in the inning on an error by the Mobile catcher, 10-3. Drew Lee picked up an RBI single in the eighth, and Jed Cambre had one in the ninth to set up Manson's three-run homer to blow the game open even more, 15-3.Â
Â
Prescott Marsh earned the win after giving up the three earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts. He allowed two of those runs and three of those hits in the first inning, as he only gave up two more hits and walked one throughout the rest of his six-inning performance. A combination of Frank Fernandez, Cole Bordes and Hunter Ponson finished the final three innings to close out the win.Â
