Box Score MOBILE, Ala. – The Loyola University New Orleans baseball team played their fourth game in Mobile, Alabama, in the last week, losing a non-conference contest to Spring Hill, 9-6. The Pack (21-7, 9-3 in SSAC) continues their road swing with a three-game series at Point University (11-18, 6-9) starting Friday. Â
Loyola found some first-inning success with three runs to begin the game. With Cole Romero and Landon Manson on base, Marcus Steen smacked a double to right field to plate the first run. A couple of wild pitches would bring the next two runs home to make it a 3-0 lead before Spring Hill came to the plate.Â
Â
The Badgers, though, answered with one run in the bottom half, 3-1, then two each in the second and third innings to take a 5-3 lead. The Wolf Pack left 10 runners on base through the first six innings, including the bases loaded in the first and second innings and grounding into an inning-ending double play in the third.Â
Â
Spring Hill scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, 7-3, and it scored those runs all with two outs. SHC added a two-run homer in the next frame to push the advantage to six, 9-3. The Wolf Pack left the bases loaded in the seventh for the third time in the game, but when they loaded it up again in the eighth, the Pack pushed two runs across to make it a 9-5 ballgame. Collin Zeringue reached on a fielder's choice to plate Romero, then Jaxon Buratt singled to bring home Manson.Â
Â
The Wolf Pack scratched across another run in the ninth thanks to a sacrifice fly off the bat of Romero, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.Â
