Box Score MOBILE, Ala. – The Loyola Wolf Pack men's tennis team took on the NAIA's No. 16-ranked team, Reinhardt, on the second day of the SSAC/Sun/AAC crossover challenge. Originally a 4-3 loss, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association ruled that Reinhardt violated line-up rules, overturning the match result into a 4-3 win for the Pack.
The Wolf Pack put up a tough fight against the No. 16 Eagles, with the doubles point coming down to a tiebreak on court 3.
Akhil Indrabalan and Remus Hebhang-Balan continued a stellar No. 1 doubles campaign with a 6-1 win, their third of the season. Reinhardt followed with a 6-3 win on court 2, setting up court 3's match to decide the doubles point. Hippolyte de Preville and Alfredo Gallegos went to a tiebreak and had match point but couldn't close it out, falling 7-6 (8-6).
Loyola started well in singles, with Gallegos, Indrabalan, and Sam Izrael all earning straight-sets victories to put the team up 3-2 in the match. The Eagles, however, had a strong close to the match, starting with a straight-sets win on court 5. Court 1 singles was the only match to reach a third set, after Hebhang-Balan won the second set but fell 6-4 in the third as the Eagles took the match on court 1.
Closing out the conference crossover challenge, the Pack will face NAIA No. 17 SCAD Savannah on Saturday, with the match scheduled for 9 a.m. The Bees are 2-0 this season after upset wins against Reinhardt and No. 7 Willliam Carey.
