MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Loyola Wolf Pack 2024 men's tennis season came to a close on Wednesday, as the team dropped its opening-round matchup at the SSAC Championship tournament.
No. 6 seed Loyola lost 4-1 to No. 3 seed Mobile, the No. 13-ranked team in the NAIA, to finish the season with a 2-12 overall record.
The Wolf Pack's point in the dual came from doubles competition, where Mobile won on court 1 but the Pack won two out of the three doubles matches to come away with the first point in the match.
Fernando Sedrani Piestun and Diego Rodriguez Tobar teamed up for their third win of the season, 6-3 at No. 3 doubles. Closing out doubles play, Remus Hebhang-Balan and Hippolyte de Preville pulled out a big tiebreak win, 7-6 (10-8).
Mobile won matches on the first four singles courts to take the match.
Hippolyte de Preville finished as the team's wins leader this season with 10 victories overall, five in singles and five in doubles. Hebhang-Balan was second on the team with four singles wins and four doubles wins. The duo of Hebhang-Balan and de Preville both made Second-Team All-Conference, and they closed out the year going 3-1 in doubles.
