WESTWEGO – The Loyola University New Orleans baseball team fell behind heavily in their non-conference matchup with Bryant & Stratton College, but the Wolf Pack came storming back to defeat the Bobcats, 22-12, in eight innings.Â

The Pack (10-0, 3-0 in SSAC) will next host Point University (9-3, 1-2) for another Southern States Athletic Conference series at Segnette Field. Games 1 and 2 are scheduled for Friday starting at 1 p.m. with the series finale set for Saturday at 1 p.m.

After a tough first inning that saw the Bobcats jump ahead 11-0, Loyola got three of those runs back in the bottom of the second. With two outs and Jed Cambre at first, Landon Trosclair continued the inning with a single to left. Aaron Davis and Jake Mills picked up RBI on consecutive at-bats with Mills driving in two, 11-3.Â

The Wolf Pack got four more in the next inning, scoring the runs off four hits and two errors to make it an 11-7 ballgame. Marcus Steen started things with a single, and Prescott Marsh and Collin Zeringue loaded the bases during the next two at-bats. Jaxon Buratt singled two batters later, 11-5, and an infield single by Davis then an error by the Bobcats' shortstop brought home another run, 11-6. Finally, a double steal play by Davis and Buratt scored the latter to make it a four-run game. Loyola kept scoring in the next inning, pushing across two more runs to inch closer to BSC's lead, 11-9. After Brandon Mooney walked to lead things off, he came around to score during the next at-bat when Steen sent one to left field that got by the left fielder. Steen later scored on a passed ball.Â

Loyola jumped ahead, 18-11, with a nine-run fifth inning. Loyola saw 15 batters come to the plate and it got nine hits during the frame to plate the runs. Landon Trosclair's single scored the first run, then back-to-back bunt singles by Mills and Mooney made it a 12-11 Wolf Pack lead. Steen tripled home two more runs, 14-11. Cambre added another RBI and a run scored when he came home on a wild pitch, 16-11, and Buratt scored on a passed ball, 17-11. Finally, Davis brought home the final run of the inning with a single up the middle.Â

Leading 20-12 in the bottom of the eighth, a sacrifice fly off the bat of Garrett Beadle got the Wolf Pack to within one run of the 10-run-rule, then Trosclair ended the game early with a bases-loaded single to left field.Â

After the Bobcats scored their 11 runs, Grant Goodbee entered to pitched and put zeros on the scoreboard for the next 3.2 innings. He struck out a pair and allowed five hits during his relief outing, which allowed the Wolf Pack bats time to catch up in the runs category. Luca Tosca got the win in his .2 of inning.Â

Landon Trosclair was the fourth Loyola player on Tuesday to have at least three hits, two RBI, and two runs scored.Â

Jake Mills extended his team-best hitting streak to eight games. Brandon Mooney also extended his on-base streak to 14 games dating back to last season.Â
