MOBILE, Ala. – The Loyola University New Orleans men's tennis team is back to a winning record for the first time since January after defeating Blue Mountain Christian University 4-0 on Thursday.

Now on a four-match winning streak, the Wolf Pack's record now stands at 7-6 on the year, 3-1 in Southern States Athletic Conference play. The Pack opened up the annual SSAC Roundup at the Mobile Tennis Center with momentum heading into a big matchup with No. 9 Middle Georgia State on Friday.

After losing the doubles point in the last two matches, Loyola got back on track Thursday. Francisco Javier Arce Vieyra and Samuel Motazed opened up the match with a 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, with the duo improving to a team-best 6-3 this season. The Pack wrapped up the doubles point on court 2, with Theo Debackere and Hippolyte de Preville winning 6-3.

In singles, Arce Vieyra again got things started with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 spot. Herman Aure played well in his match on court 6, winning 6-2, 6-2. The Pack then clinched the match on court 5, with Spencer Matz having a close first set (7-5) but leaving no doubt in the second (6-0).

Matz is now 4-3 in singles play this season, while Aure improved to 4-2. Arce Vieyra, who has played every one of his matches at the No. 1 position, is 5-5.

Loyola's matchup with Middle Georgia is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Mobile Tennis Center Friday.
