MOBILE, Ala. – The Loyola University New Orleans baseball team played its eighth straight game away from Segnette Field on Tuesday, defeating Spring Hill College, 14-13, in a non-conference matchup. Loyola (10-6) continues its play away from home this weekend, traveling to Victoria, Texas, for a three-game series. The Wolf Pack and Houston-Victoria will play a doubleheader on Friday at 2:30 p.m. before the series finale at 12 p.m. on Saturday.

Cole Romero had himself a day at the plate, recording four hits in six at-bats while totaling six RBI in the contest.

Romero got the Wolf Pack on the board first in the third inning, singling to center field to bring home Aaron Davis and Ross Selvaggi. Spring Hill, however, pushed six runs across in the bottom half to take a 6-2 lead. Romero picked up another RBI in the fourth inning, too, scoring Landon Trosclair to cut the deficit to 6-4. Brandon Mooney brought home the third run two at-bats prior to set up Romero.

The big inning for the Wolf Pack came in the fifth with five more runs after two more runs by SHC made it an 8-4 game. Tucker Ganley walked to lead off the frame, then after Spring Hill got two outs, Trosclair and Davis both reached base on walks. Mooney was hit by a pitch to score the first run during the next at-bat, Mills walked to score another, and Romero came through again, this time with a three-RBI double to make Loyola's lead 9-8.

Selvaggi made it a 10-8 lead in the sixth by scoring on an error, then Anthony Fernandez extended to score once again, 13-8, with a three-run home run in the seventh inning. The Badgers made things interesting with two runs in the bottom of the seventh and three more in the eighth, but Loyola got a much-needed run in the eighth that proved to be the difference. With Selvaggi on third, Davis singled to, at the time, give Loyola a 14-10 lead.

Grant Goodbee performed well in his relief outing on the mound, throwing two innings with three strikeouts in the middle part of the game to allow Loyola to take its lead.
