No. 23 Wolf Pack drops series finale at No. 8 St. Thomas

The Loyola baseball team traveled to No. 8 St. Thomas this weekend, taking the series over the Bobcats

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The 23rd-ranked Loyola Wolf Pack baseball team lost out on a potential three-game sweep of No. 8-ranked St. Thomas (Fla) on Sunday, falling in Game 3 of the series 11-0. The Wolf Pack won the series after taking both games in Saturday's doubleheader, though, improving their overall record to 9-6 after the weekend.

Loyola is now 6-4 against teams receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 preseason poll.

The Pack will play four games this week, first traveling to Mobile, Alabama, for a Tuesday matchup against Spring Hill College at 4 p.m. Then, they'll travel to Victoria, Texas, for a three-game series against Houston-Victoria, first playing a doubleheader on Friday at 2:30 p.m. before a series finale on Saturday at 12 p.m.

St. Thomas scored in the first three innings, jumping out to an 11-0 lead. Brandon Mooney led the team with three hits, starting the game off with a double and singling with two outs in the third and seventh. He was left stranded all three times, however, as the team left eight runners on base throughout the game.
