The third-seeded Rams won 4-0 in Thursday's opener at the SSAC Championship to end the Wolf Pack men's tennis season
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The 2022 Southern States Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Championships began on Thursday, and the Loyola men's team faced off with the University of Mobile in the opening round.
The two teams had met once before during the season, with Mobile barely winning the first matchup. The postseason rematch was all Mobile, as the third-seeded Rams won 4-0.
Mobile won the first two doubles matches to claim the doubles point, with the match on Court 3 going unfinished. Theo Debackere and Tiger Cheung were up 5-3, one game away from victory, before their match was stopped.
In singles, Francisco Arce Vieyra and Remus Hebhang-Balan each had a one-set advantage over their respective opponents, but again both of their matches did not finish due to the Rams winning three singles matches to clinch. Arce and Hebhang-Balan each won five singles matches during the season, which is tied for the highest individual win total on the team in 2022.
The loss for the Wolf Pack ends the season with the team having a 5-10 overall record.
