Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

No. 10 Wolf Pack extends win streak at Mobile

The Loyola Wolf Pack women’s basketball team continues to pile up the wins, adding their ninth of the season Saturday afternoon

MOBILE, Ala. – The 10th-ranked Loyola Wolf Pack women's basketball team pushed their record to 9-0 on Saturday, defeating the Mobile Rams 69-47 on the road in Southern State Athletic Conference matchup. To go along with their undefeated overall record, Loyola is now 3-0 in SSAC play with two conference games left on the schedule before the New Year.

Loyola will take a quick break from league play next week, though, playing NCAA Divison I Lamar University in a road exhibition on Tuesday, then a non-conference matchup against Southeastern Baptist in The Den on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

After Mobile took an early 6-5 lead through the first two-plus minutes of the game, the Wolf Pack outscored the Rams 17-5 the rest of the period. Sandra Cannady and Taylor Thomas each scored four points during that stretch, and Kennedy Hansberry, Jazmene McMillan, Liz Critton and Sydni Tangle each added buckets as well to help Loyola lead 22-11 after the first 10 minutes.

The Rams tried to make up ground in the second quarter by scoring eight of the first 12 points to cut the deficit to 26-19 four minutes into the frame. Cannady pushed the lead back out to 10, 29-19, with her sixth point of the quarter, however, and McMillan hit a 3 to put the momentum back on Loyola's side. Tay Cannon and Tangle each scored two points in the final minutes to bring the score to 36-24 by halftime.

Loyola continued to extend the advantage in the third, starting the second half on a 12-2 run powered by five points from Thomas. The Wolf Pack didn't stop there either, as the team continued to get production from multiple players to keep the double-digit lead. Hansberry, Cannady, Thomas and Cannon all added scores to bring the score to 56-35 into the final quarter.

The game's result was never in question in the final 10 minutes with Tangle and Hansberry each hitting 3-pointers in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter. Hansberry and Cannady both scored again before Jada Washington got on the board in the final minute, too.
