NEW ORLEANS – The Loyola University New Orleans women's basketball team kept its undefeated season alive on Thursday, defeating the William Carey Lady Crusaders 91-58 for the Wolf Pack's eighth consecutive win to start the season.Â

The Pack (8-0, 2-0 in SSAC) will hit the road once again on Saturday, traveling to Mobile for another conference matchup. They'll tip off with the Rams at noon.Â

William Carey led 7-2 early, then Sydni Tangle entered the game and promptly hit a 3-pointer at the halfway point of the opening quarter. After starting the game 2-for-10 as a team from the floor, Sandra Cannady helped stop the skid with a layup, 11-7, then Tay Cannon made it back-to-back makes with an old-fashioned three-point play, 13-10, with 2:44 left in the first. Taylor Thomas tied the game less than a minute later with a shot from beyond the arc, and Tangle gave the Pack their first lead of the game with another jumper, 15-13.Â

Loyola ended the first 10 minutes of play with a 17-15 lead over the Crusaders, making five of its final seven shots.Â

Jazmene McMillan started the second half with an and-1 conversion, 22-15, but WCU scored the next seven points to get the game tied again two and a half minutes into the frame. Loyola answered with six points from Cannady, a field goal from Cannon and a free throw from McMillan to jump ahead 31-22 by the quarter's media timeout. Cannon added six more points down the stretch to help Loyola lead by 16 at the break, 46-30.Â

The Wolf Pack maintained the double-digit lead in the third quarter after scores from Taylor Thomas, Kennedy Hansberry, Liz Critton and Cannady five-plus minutes into the second half, 55-40. Tangle kept things going with a 3-pointer to extend the advantage to 18, and Cannady continued to dominate in the paint with another hard-fought basket, 60-40. Loyola would end up taking the 65-42 lead into the final quarter.Â

Loyola continued the pace in the fourth quarter, shooting 56 percent from the floor while scoring 23 points to close out the contest.Â

Sandra Cannady notched her seventh double-double in eight games this season, stuffing the stat sheet with 23 points, 12 boards, five assists, and three steals. Her points, rebounds, and steals were all game-highs.Â

Loyola had four players score in double figures on Thursday, including Kennedy Hansberry and Tay Cannon with 11 apiece, and Sydni Tangle with 10.

Cannon also set a new career-best, dishing out a game-high six assists.Â
