Loyola cheer, dance competes at Mobile

The Loyola Wolf Pack competitive cheer and dance teams competed for the first time this season, participating in the University of Mobile's Invitational and duals

MOBILE, Ala. – The Loyola New Orleans Wolf Pack competitive cheer and dance squads got their seasons started Friday, participating in a University of Mobile-hosted competition featuring cheer and dance teams from Mobile, Talladega College, Point University and the Wolf Pack. The Loyola cheer team competed in the invitational portion of the event, which stacked all four teams in one competition, while also going head-to-head with Mobile. The dance team, however, competed against Talladega in two separate duals.

In the invitational, the Wolf Pack cheer team placed third with a 66.28 score, as Point (85.93) and Mobile (85.42) finished first and second while Talladega placed fourth with a score of 57.3. In the dual against Mobile, the cheer team posted a better score, this time a 79.05, but the Rams edged the Pack with an 84.57 mark.

The Wolf Pack dance team, which has advanced to the NAIA National Championship the last four years, won both duals against Talladega, starting the day with a 79.7 before posting an 83.6 score in the second dual. Talladega scored a 59.85 and a 63.85.

The two Wolf Pack teams are back in action Friday, Feb. 11, when they'll take the short trip to Xavier for the Battle in the Big Easy.
