The Loyola Wolf Pack competitive dance team and the competitive cheer team added seven and six athletes, respectively, to the squads from this year's signing class
NEW ORLEANS – Loyola University New Orleans competitive cheer and dance coach Rickey Hill announced the signing of 13 new athletes to the competitive cheer and dance teams Thursday, as Hill and assistant coach Tiffany Willis continue to have both programs moving at an upward trajectory.
"Coach Tiffany Willis and I are very excited about the upcoming 2021-2022 season," Hill said. "We have a strong recruiting class of cheerleaders and dancers who we feel will take Loyola University Competitive Cheer and Dance to the next level nationally."
The competitive dance team is coming off a memorable season in 2021, finishing eighth at the NAIA National Championships to record the best finish in program history. The team had to travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to compete in an NAIA qualifier, placing first at the competition to punch Loyola's ticket to its fourth straight NAIA National Championship. The team has four Southern States Athletic Conference titles in four tries, too, and freshmen Alyssa Ordoyne and Kele Johnson were both named NAIA All-America Honorable Mention in March.
The competitive cheer team did not compete this season, but the team is set to resume normal competition for the 2021-22 academic year.
