Box Score The Loyola Wolf Pack scored three eighth-inning runs to win Game 1 of their weekend series against William Carey in Hattiesburg, Mississippi
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Loyola Wolf Pack baseball team won their eighth straight Friday night, scoring three late-inning runs to beat No. 14 William Carey 4-3 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Loyola and Crusaders will finish their series with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The win moves Loyola to 18-8 overall and 4-0 in Southern States Athletic Conference play. It was also the sixth win over a Top 25 team this season, and Loyola is 6-2 in matchups against nationally-ranked teams.
After William Carey took a 1-0 lead through two innings, the Wolf Pack tied the game with a run in the fifth. Brandon Duhon reached base after a two-out single, then stole second base to put a runner in scoring position for Tucker Ganley, who came through with an RBI single to make it a 1-1 game.
The Crusaders pushed one run across in each the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings, extending the WCU lead to 3-1. Loyola, however, answered with three runs in the top of the eighth to take its first lead of the game, 4-3. Ganley was hit by a pitch surrounded between two strikeouts, then three straight base hits with two outs scored three runs for the Wolf Pack. Michael Calamari put two runners on base before Allen Dennis doubled home the two tying runs, then Peyton Lacoste gave Loyola the lead with an RBI during the next at-bat.
Brett Fisackerly and Wes Anderson closed the door on the mound for the Wolf Pack. Fisackerly worked 1.2 innings with three strikeouts, then Anderson finished the final 1.1 innings with three strikeouts as well. Fisackerly replaced starting pitcher John Blanchard III in the seventh inning, working out of a one-out jam. Anderson relieved Fisackerly in the eighth inning, recording strikeouts for the third out in each of the final two frames. Blanchard struck out three in his six innings of work, allowing three runs on eight hits.

With a single in the fifth inning, Tucker Ganley moved his on-base streak to 17 games.
Allen Dennis went 2-for-4 with a double Friday, extending his on-base streak to 18 games.
Brandon Duhon swiped his 14th bag of the season against William Carey, which is tied for the team lead with Kason Cullins.
Michael Calamari went 2-for-3 from the plate, and he now has recorded a hit in five straight games.
Wes Anderson worked the final 1.1 innings to earn his second save of the season.
