The Wolf Pack men's cross country team had the Top 2 finishers Saturday, as well as three of the Top 4 at the Lois Davis Invitational
MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Loyola Wolf Pack men's cross country team opened up the unconventional 2021 season Saturday by taking the top spot in Southern Arkansas University's 10th annual Lois Davis Invitational. Loyola was racing against the host team, Southern Arkansas, and Harding, and the Wolf Pack used three finishes in the Top 4 to take the top team spot in the race.
Southern Arkansas and Harding are NCAA Division II schools.
Hayden Ricca and Walter Ramsey finished first and second, respectively, with times of 27:38.9 and 27:45 in the 8K race. Christian Hanson also placed in the Top 5, finishing in fourth place with a time of 28:46.
Sophomores Peter Nelson-Broderick (29:54.3) and Alex Medina (29.46) ended the race in 12th and 13th place, respectively, to give Loyola five runners in the top 15.
The Wolf Pack women's cross country team had four runners competing, so they didn't register in the team standings, but Catherine Coldiron recorded the best time of 20:56.7 in the 5K race to place 22nd out of 42 runners.
Madisyn Acosta finished with a time of 21:38.2, landing in 28th place, while fellow sophomore Amber Byrd placed 30th with a time of 21:57.7. Isabel Esteb ran a 23:07.2, finishing in 37th place.
The Wolf Pack are scheduled to run again at the Florida State Winter Last Chance Meet, which will be held March 5 in Tallahassee, Florida.
