The Wolf Pack end the season matching the program record for wins with a 12-10 final record
MOBILE, Ala. – The Loyola University New Orleans women's tennis team's historic 2019 season came to a close on Wednesday as they fell 5-1 to No. 5 SCAD Savannah in the second round of the NAIA Women's Tennis National Championship at Mobile Tennis Center.
"Unfortunately you can't win them all, but I was very happy with the way our team fought today," said head coach Kyle Russell. "We lost to a quality opponent but didn't make it easy on them."
The duo of Nadja Ochsner and Chandler Harmon secured the lone point for the Wolf Pack with an 8-6 doubles victory at the No. 3 position, as they improved to 14-4 as a doubles pairing in 2019, but the Bees (13-3) claimed five victories across singles and doubles to advance to the quarterfinals.
Finishing with a 12-10 overall record, the Wolf Pack matched the program record for wins in a season. The team also reached a school record ranking, as they entered their first NAIA National Championship tournament with the No. 12 seed, earning an 8-1 victory over No. 21 SCAD Atlanta in the opening round.
"The ladies definitely played with the Wolf Pack spirit and I couldn't be prouder of this squad and everything they've accomplished this year," said Russell. "I'm so appreciative of the personal investment of our players, assistant coaches and supporters in this historic season. The future is bright for Loyola women's tennis."
