The women's team got their second victory on the Georgia road trip with a 5-1 result, while the men fell 5-1.
MACON, Ga. – Both Loyola University New Orleans tennis teams closed out Middle Georgia Tennis Invitational on Tuesday, heading to the John Drew Smith Tennis Center to take on Campbellsville University.
The No. 19-ranked Wolf Pack women's team improved to 6-4 on the season and 2-1 at the invitational after taking down the No. 20 Tigers.
The duo of Chandler Harmon and Nadja Ochsner continued their streak of doubles wins, going 3-0 at the Middle Georgia Invitational after beginning the match with an 8-2 result on court three. The team of Manuela Alban and Catherine Jordan also went undefeated on the Georgia trip, winning 8-2 on court two.
The Tigers took the No. 1 doubles match to have momentum going into singles, but the Pack didn't drop any matches in singles, claiming the 5-1 team victory. The singles points came from Arianna Pepper on court four (6-0, ret.), Gabrielle Terranova on court six (6-0, 6-0), and Chandler Harmon on court one (6-2, 6-3). Alban, Koral Martinez, and Ochsner were all ahead in their singles matches before the team win was clinched.
"We got the attitude, we got the game, now we're getting down to business," said Alban, the team's captain.
On the men's side, Emilio Saenz and Ernesto Telles were able to grab an 8-5 doubles victory at the No. 3 position, but the ninth-ranked Tigers won the other two doubles matches and notched the first three singles points to get the 5-1 team victory.
"We didn't get the results we wanted, said team captain Galileo Cabrales, "but our fighting spirit was there and we will use that to propel us for the rest of the season!"
Loyola's men's team is back in action this Saturday, March 9, when the Pack host Texas A&M-Texarkana at City Park in New Orleans for a 3 p.m. match.
The Wolf Pack women's team won't play again until next Tuesday, March 12, when they host NCAA-DI school Southeast Missouri State at 4 p.m. in City Park.
