With rain in the area, the two teams were able to finish the women's match, before the men's match was postponed just after the start of singles
THIBODAUX, La. - Facing their second NCAA Division I opponent in the last two days, the Loyola University New Orleans tennis teams dropped one match on the women's side before the men's match was called due to weather.
In the women's match, the Colonels took the doubles point with wins on all three courts. The home team claimed the first match in singles to finish, winning on court six to take a 2-0 lead on the Pack, before taking wins on courts three, and five to clinch. Loyola dropped their match on court one before the match was called at 5-0 Nicholls State. On court two, Manuela Alban led Lingfeng Gu 6-4, 2-1 before it was halted.
With rain approaching, the men's teams were just able to play doubles, and the Pack took advantage of the opportunity. On court one, Ernesto de Diego and Alexander DePascual claimed the win on court one with a 6-4 victory. The home team took the win on court three by a score of 6-4, putting court two at center stage to decide the doubles point.
With the match hitting six all on court two, Tiger Cheung and Sean Presti took their opponents to a tie-breaker, which they came out on top of to claim the 7-6 win and clinch the doubles point for Loyola.
Singles in the men's match were able to begin for a short period of time before the rain became too much, forcing the contest to be postponed. The matchup will be continued at a later date yet to be determined.
