The Wolf Pack's eight victories in 2016-17 tie the program record for most wins ever in a single season.
The Loyola University New Orleans men's tennis team headed to the Mobile Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon for day one of the 2017 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Tennis Championships.
Entering the tournament as the No. 5 seed, the Wolf Pack drew No. 4 Middle Georgia State in the opening round of the tournament.
Loyola managed to take two points from the higher seed on Thursday but would fall 7-2 against the No. 10 Knights to put an end to a historic season.
The duo of Sean Presti (SO/Lesigny, France) and Maxime Rumeau (SO/Aix en Provence, France) gave Loyola its first point of the match after defeating the tandem of Jordan Clayton and Masao Perret, 8-4.
Rumeau continued his strong play in singles as the newly awarded SSAC Musco Lighting Champions of Character Team member defeated Colby Gandy 7-5,7-5 at third position to give the Wolf Pack its lone singles victory of the match.
Loyola ends the 2016-17 season tying the program record with eight total victories while Ernest de Diego was named to the SSAC All-Conference Team earlier today, marking the first time that a member of the Wolf Pack men's team has earned the honor since 2013.
