Men give a strong effort in Sunday's loss to ranked Xavier University.
The Loyola Wolf Pack men's tennis team came into the Xavier University Tennis Center to square off against No. 2 Xavier University riding the momentum of a 8-1 exhibition win over Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Friday.
In spite of some strong play, the men's team fell 9-0 to the Gold Rush on Sunday evening in the the team's first competition of the 2017 spring season.
For the men's team, the team of Steven Le (SR/Tustin, Calif.) and Diego de Ernesto carried the day, but came up short to Xavier's Antoine Richard and Moses Michael (9-8) in a close battle.
In the singles match, Galileo Cabrales (FR/San Salvador, El Salvador) matched up against No. 3 ranked opponent Karan Salwan. Cabrales held his own in the match but eventually fell to the ranked opponent 6-3, 6-2 in the singles competition.
The men's team next will matchup against Southeastern University on Feb. 4 in Mobile, Ala. The Wolf Pack is set to take the court at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
