Wolf Pack return to action on Friday, April 15, to start a three-game series against SSAC-foe (RV) University of Mobile.
Looking to snap a five-game losing streak, the Loyola University New Orleans Baseball team hit the road on Tuesday to take on NCAA DII Spring Hill College.
Despite holding a 2-0 lead after two innings, the Wolf Pack fell to Badgers 10-5 at Historic Stan Galle Field.
With the loss, Loyola drops to 18-26 on the year.
Rawlings Elam (SO/Houston, Tx.) and Britt Pellegrin (JR/Bourg, La.) accounted for six of the Wolf Pack's 12 hits on Tuesday, with each player tallying three. Luis Anguizola (JR/David, Chiriqui, Panama) led Loyola with two RBI and six putouts, while Elam, Alexander Lorenzo (JR/Miami, Fla.) and Spencer Rosenbohm (SO/Daphne, Ala.) each notched a RBI in the loss.
Making his season debut after suffering a major injury in the preseason, Dylan Gregoire (SR/Baton Rouge, La.) (0-1) got the loss after giving up four runs (four earned) on three hits in 1.0 innings pitched.
The Wolf Pack were off to a hot start on Tuesday, as Blake Toscano (JR/Metairie, La.) walked, Elam singled and Anguizola reached on catcher's interference to load the bases with no outs in the top of the first inning. After a strikeout, Lorenzo flew out to left but it was deep enough to score Toscano from third to put Loyola up 1-0.
Although that was the only run Loyola could manufacture with the bases loaded, they continued to add to their lead in the top of the second. Pellegrin led off the inning with a single to first. Then Spencer Rosenbohm doubled to deep right center to score Pellegrin and give the Wolf Pack an early 2-0 lead.
Loyola almost added another run in the third inning when Condara was thrown out at home on a single from Pellegrin. Spring Hill carried the momentum of the play at the plate to tag starting pitcher Jordan Green (JR/Shreveport, La.) for three runs in third, giving them the 3-2 lead.
The Wolf Pack quickly erased the Spring Hill lead and tied it up as a run-scoring single by Elam brought in Rosenbohm in the top of the fourth.
Gregoire wasted no time in his debut, picking up his first strikeout of the year as he blew by the second batter he faced en route to a scoreless fourth inning.
The fifth inning had a different story. Gregoire and Campbell combined to give up seven runs, which gave Spring Hill a 10-3 lead.
In the sixth, Loyola cut into the deficit when Anguizola, followed a double by Elam with his team-leading seventh home run of the season to cut the visitor's deficit to five.
The Wolf Pack only managed one hit over the next three innings to hand the Badgers the 10-5 victory.
Loyola returns to Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) play on Friday, April 15, as they travel to (RV) the University of Mobile for a three game series.
