(Mobile, Ala.) The Loyola University New Orleans men's and women's tennis teams fell to Belhaven University Saturday morning in Mobile, Alabama at the Mobile Tennis Center. The Wolf Pack women also dropped their match against William Carey University earlier in the day.
In their match against the No. 20 Crusaders, the Loyola women only participated in singles competition, falling to William Cary 5-0. Later in the day, the Pack was swept by Belhaven 9-0. Senior captain Meghan de Baroncelli won the second set of her match against Anne Marie Kimball, but Kimball came back to win the tie-breaking set 11-10.
The Wolf Pack men also fell to the No. 21 Belhaven Blazers 8-1. Freshman Ernesto de Diego earned the sole victory for Loyola, defeating Lachlan Puyola in a tie-breaking set. de Diego won the first set 7-6 and fell 6-0 in the second set before taking down Puyol 11-9 in the tiebreaker.
The Loyola men and women will resume action on March 11-12 as they take on University of Mobile and Mississippi College at the Xavier University Tennis Center.
