Javan Felix joined the Loyola men's basketball program in August of 2021 as assistant coach, bringing a mix of recruiting, player development, preparation and organization to the team.

In his second season on the staff, Felix and the Wolf Pack won the SSAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships for the second year in a row. The Pack went 24-7 overall, with the team's 24 wins tied for the second-most in a season in program history.

The New Orleans native's debut season on the Wolf Pack coaching staff went as well as it possibly could, as Loyola captured the 2022 NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship title, just the second national championship in school history.

Felix prepped at St. Augustine before turning in a four-year career at the University of Texas. He led Purple Knights to a 5A State Championship while winning the 5A Player of the Year award during his junior season. At Texas, Felix played in 132 games with 78 starts, averaging 9.5 points, 2.8 assists and 2.1 rebounds throughout his career with the Longhorns.

After his collegiate career, Felix played professionally for the KK Gorica in the Croatian professional basketball league in 2016-2017, then he played in the NBA’s G League for the Oklahoma City Thunder and Los Angeles Lakers organizations from 2017 to 2020.
