Guillotte and Martinez named Sun Conference Pair of the Week

TAMPA, Fla. – The Sun Conference handed out its first Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week award of the 2026 season Monday. Loyola's No. 2 pair of Samantha Guillotte and Kiarelis Martinez received the award, a career first for both student-athletes. 

The Loyola Wolf Pack beach volleyball team began the 2026 season last weekend at the Huntingdon Beach Bash, winning three of its four matches in the week against NCAA Division-III opponents, Huntingdon College, Stevenson University, Berry College, and LaGrange College. 

While the Wolf Pack went 3-1 at the season-opening tournament, Guillotte and Martinez had a perfect 4-0 start.

The No. 2 Wolf Pack pair didn't drop a set on Friday to start the tournament, winning 21-15, 21-11 against Huntingdon and 21-13, 21-14 against Stevenson. Saturday's first match against Berry was tougher, as they won the first set but dropped the second to go to the deciding third, edging out the competition 22-20, 17-21, 16-14. Finally, they closed out the weekend winning 21-8, 21-10 against LaGrange. 

While this is the pair's first year competing together, they both rank near the top of the career leaderboard in the Wolf Pack record book. Guillotte became just the third Wolf Pack beach player to reach 30 career wins on Saturday, joining Madeline Corrall and Kala Emanuelli, and now has a career record of 30-16. Martinez's career record is 28-26 after the undefeated weekend, and she's now tied for fourth in career beach wins at Loyola. 

This is the second Sun Conference Pair of the Week award for Loyola's beach volleyball program, as Amaya Bazemore and Isabella Rodrigue received the honor last season. 

Loyola is scheduled to compete in Ave Maria, Florida, later this week in the team's first conference matches of the season. The first match is scheduled for 12 p.m. Friday against Florida Memorial.
