NEW ORLEANS – The Loyola Wolf Pack men's tennis team began a week of three non-conference NAIA matches on Thursday. At Dillard University's
The Pack, who have played well at doubles competition all season long, started out the match well with three doubles wins. Hippolyte de Preville and Alfredo Gallegos were first to finish on court 3, a 6-3 win. Sam Izrael and Samuel Motazed also had a 6-3 win on court 2. Then the No. 42-ranked duo of Akhil Indrabalan and Remus Hebhang-Balan won 6-4 on court 1.
Izrael won in straight sets in his second match playing No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-4. The Warriors, however, won on courts 4 and 6, so the match was tied at 2-2 after the first three singles matches were completed.
Loyola was down a set in matches on courts 3 and 5, but momentum started swinging back in the Pack's favor, as de Preville took the second set in his match on court 3 and Hebhang-Balan won the first set on court 1. Spencer Matz also had a big lead in set two on court 5, but LCSC wrestled momentum back to win on all three courts.
The Wolf Pack will have a quick turnaround in their return to Dillard's tennis courts on Friday. Loyola will be looking to get back on the winning side against Hope International. The match is scheduled for just under 12 hours from now at 10 a.m.
