MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The 21st-ranked Loyola Wolf Pack baseball team couldn't complete the four-game sweep of St. Thomas (Fla.) on Sunday, dropping the finale 7-6. Loyola won the first three games of the four-game weekend series in dominating efforts, and its record is now 16-4 overall.

The Wolf Pack is next scheduled to play on Wednesday when they travel to Louisiana Christian for a 4 p.m. contest. They'll return to Southern States Athletic Conference action next weekend to host Abraham Baldwin at Segnette Field.Â

Loyola got on the board first in the opening frame, as Collin Zeringue singled to help Garrett Felix get home. Then after the Bobcats scored three in the third inning, 3-1, the Wolf Pack answered with a four-run top of the fifth. Jaxon Buratt got into scoring position with a single and a stolen base, and a fielder's choice off the bat of Jake Mills made it a 3-2 game. Brandon Mooney came through with a three-run home run after that to put the Pack back on top, 5-3.Â

St. Thomas, however, tied it in the bottom half of the frame, and it answered Loyola's attempt to regain the lead in the seventh. A sacrifice fly by Zeringue gave Loyola the lead, 6-5, but the Bobcats responded with another run to keep things nodded.Â

The difference in the game came in the eighth when St. Thomas scored the go-ahead run.Â
