Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s basketball wins third straight

The Wolf Pack men’s basketball team easily handled cross-town rival Dillard Thursday night

NEW ORLEANS – The Loyola Wolf Pack men's basketball team had 15 players see the court and 12 total score a point in a 20-point, win over Dillard Thursday night, 91-71. The win marks the third straight for the Pack, and they'll close out the regular season in The Den with a Senior Day matchup against William Carey on Saturday at 2 p.m.

After the Bleu Devils began with a brief lead, Cameron Williams, Kameron Johnson, and Kosta Bjelicic combined to score the Pack's first five points, taking a 5-4 lead. Dillard retook the lead soon after, 7-5, but an 11-point Wolf Pack scoring run put the Pack ahead nine, 16-7. It started with two scores by Williams and Bjelicic, then a triple by Troy Thomas added to that with Williams and Johnson making buckets to complete the run. Johnson sank a 3-pointer of his own to bring the Loyola lead to double digits, 19-9.

After the midway point of the first half, Jarvis Brown got on the board with a trey, 22-9. Bjelicic made two more jumpers, then Brown scored another 3-pointer, 29-18. Milan Mejia knocked one down from long range to extend Loyola's lead, 32-18. Williams and Bjelicic closed out the half by scoring the final six points for the Maroon and Gold, 38-23.

Johnson and Thomas scored to stretch Loyola's advantage, 42-23, then a three-pointer by Reece Seicshnaydre assisted by Jaylen Peters put the Pack in front by 22, 45-23. Peters scored the next three baskets for the Wolf Pack, then Johnson added a layup, 53-35. Back-to-back triples by Mejia put Loyola's edge back over 20, 59-38.

The Pack continued to score in the final 10 minutes of the second half. Johnson and Bjelicic combined to score the next eight points, then Thomas added a score of his own, 69-48. With the Pack just minutes from victory, Schuyler Pimentel got on the board with a basket. Evan Savoy added a jumper to the scoresheet, just before Cayden Branch hit a triple from the top of the key, 84-60. After a Savoy triple, a Brody Adams steal led to a slam by Pimentel. Adams added another dunk with an assist from Oliver Weiss to cap off the Pack's crosstown victory.
