Ivana De Carvalho Peixe named SSAC Attacker of the Week

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Southern States Athletic Conference announced its Volleyball Players of the Week for week 10 of the 2025 volleyball season, and Loyola Wolf Pack graduate student Ivana De Carvalho Peixe has been selected as the SSAC Attacker of the Week. 

This is the first weekly award for the Wolf Pack right side hitter, and she's the fifth different Loyola volleyball player to be honored this season, joining Isis Harink (Attacker), Kala Emanuelli (Defender), Ellie Connor (Setter), and Belén Puche Laguna (Setter). 

Loyola swept both of its matches in road gyms last week, beating Xavier 3-0 on Wednesday and Point University 3-0 in a conference matchup in Georgia Saturday. 

While she didn't have a high attacking volume in either match, Peixe made the most of her opportunities in both, finishing with 15 total kills and a hitting percentage of .480 for the week with four total blocks. 

After tallying six kills vs. Xavier while hitting .286, she recorded her most efficient performance against Point, scoring nine kills on only 11 attempts with one lone attacking error. Her hitting percentage of .727 for the match was the best mark for any Wolf Pack player in a match this season, surpassing the previous mark of .692, which she also set on October 3 against UT Southern. 

So far this season, Peixe has been averaging 2.2 kills per set at a hitting percentage of .267, totaling just under 200 kills at 196. She currently ranks third on the team in all three categories.

Loyola's volleyball team will play the first of three straight matches at home on Friday, when the Pack faces off against UT Southern at 6 p.m. The Wolf Pack will then celebrate Senior Day on Saturday with a 1 p.m. matchup against Blue Mountain Christian.
