NEW ORLEANS – Loyola Esports won three of four matches this week, winning all of their Super Smash Bros. matches. The Smash Sun Conference team swept St. Thomas University (Fla.). Both the NACE squads won against their opponents, Dallas Baptist University and Talladega College, 2-1 and 2-0. On Wednesday, The Call of Duty squad had a tough contest against the University of North Texas at Dallas, 0-3.

The Sun Conference will begin the week with the Wolf Pack facing off with Webber International on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Then, Call of Duty will compete on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. against Southeastern Illinois College. On Thursday, both Smash Bros. Premier and Plus will compete at 6 p.m. against Independence Community College and Columbia College (S.C.). All of the matches will be streamed at https://www.youtube.com/@loynoesports. The Smash Bros. Plus team will be livestreaming at the LoynoEsports2 YouTube channel.Â

Now standing at a 3-1 overall record, the Sun Conference Smash Bros. team swept St. Thomas University on Tuesday night, 2-0. Wins from Makari Jackson and Anthony Nodolski secured the first-set victory. Nodolski's Olimar took down three straight opponents in Mewtwo, Roy, and Sephiroth. Nodolski started the second set by defeating Sephiroth without losing a single stock. Then, Olimar took down Lucas with two stocks remaining to help give the Wolf Pack a solid lead. Nodolski defeated a third opponent in Mewtwo, this time without losing a stock. Finally, Nodolski's Olimar eliminated Sonic to complete the sweep and give Loyola another win in Sun Conference play.

The Pack played against the University of North Texas at Dallas on Wednesday night. UNTD came away with the victory, winning 3-0 against Loyola. However, the Wolf Pack had great individual performances on Wednesday with Adeola Apata leading both teams in kills in the match's first round. Gabrielle Jenkins and Wilhelmina Roccaforte-Kostecky combined for 20 kills in the first round, as well. Keagan Authement led the team in kills on the game's second map. In the match's final round, Apata had the most kills among both teams, with a total of 25, four more than UNTD's highest-killing player.

On Thursday, the Wolf Pack competed against Dallas Baptist University in Smash Premier competition. Along with Jackson and Nodolski, Ameer Joseph and Samuel Spiegal contributed to the Wolf Pack winning against DBU, taking the tie-breaking set to take a victory, 2-1. Jackson's Terry took down DBU's R.O.B. to claim the win for Loyola, moving the Pack to a 2-2 record.

At the same time, the Smash Bros. Plus squad fought Talladega College, taking a 2-0 sweep. Leyton Gould started the match off with two wins with Sonic. Joaquin Vazquez took another win with Link. Evan Sakryd's Mii Gunner defeated Talladega's Joker to grab another win and secure the first set. Starting the second set, Joker managed to get the better of Sakryd with another try. Once again, Gould defeated two straight opponents in Joker and Hero. After Gould's Sonic fell to Dark Pit, Vazquez returned to the match to take down the final two opponents and complete the sweep over Talladega College.
