Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s basketball takes road loss at Life

The Wolf Pack men’s basketball team led for most of the game Saturday afternoon

NEW ORLEANS – The Loyola University New Orleans men's basketball team took another Southern States Athletic Conference loss on Saturday, falling at Life University, 71-63. The Wolf Pack will be back in The Den next week for their final two games at home for the regular season.

Loyola got off to a 10-0 start thanks to four points by Julian Baldwin and scores by Braelee Albert, Milan Mejia and Zachary Lee. Albert and Lee kept it a 10-point lead six minutes into the game, 14-4, and Loyola still led by 11, 18-7, by the nine-minute mark. Kameron Johnson and Alex Hammond scored their first points after that, 21-9, but Life used a 11-0 run to cut its deficit to one, 21-20, with three minutes until halftime.

Scores by Lee and Hammond held off the Running Eagles for the time being, and four more points for Mejia brought the score to 31-25 by halftime.

Brody Adams scored his first points and Albert hit a 3-pointer to help Loyola start the second half well. Albert hit another 3 a couple of minutes later, 41-35, then four more points for Adams pushed Loyola's advantage back out to 10, 45-35, with 14 minutes left on the clock. Leonard Jackson converted an and-1 opportunity to give the Pack a 54-43 advantage at the 10:23 mark, however, a 16-0 run for Life put the hosts ahead by four, 59-54, with less than five minutes left.

Free throws by Mejia immediately after that kept Loyola within one possession, then a 3-pointer by Mejia at the 1:22 mark brought the Life lead to 65-62. The Running Eagles quickly took a multi-poession lead and never relinquished it to hold on for the win.
