CHANDLER, Ariz. – The Loyola University New Orleans women's basketball team continued the Cactus Classic on Thursday, losing to Montana Tech, 66-54, in the second game of a back-to-back. The Wolf Pack will play one more in Chandler, Arizona, as they'll take on Montana Western on Saturday at 1 p.m. CST.Â

After the Orediggers won the first quarter, Loyola played a much better second 10 minutes to even the score at the mid-game break. Deniya Thornton went 2-for-4 from the field for five points and Kate Thompson was 2-for-3 with four points to lead the Wolf Pack in the first quarter. Both had a block, too, as Montana Tech led 17-13 after 10 minutes of play. The Wolf Pack held the Orediggers to just 3-for-11 shooting, including 1-for-7 from the 3-point line, in the second quarter, and Caitlin Travis was 3-for-3 with six points to help even the score, 27-27, by halftime.Â
Â
Montana Tech, however, had a strong second half, holding Loyola to 7-for-30 shooting while making 12-of-28 shots on the other end of the floor to hold a double-digit lead over the Pack.Â
