NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) released the 2022-23 All-Louisiana Women's Basketball Teams, and Loyola had two First-Team Selections for the first time in program history. Seniors Sandra Cannady and Kennedy Hansberry were joined by three players from NCAA champion LSU on the All-Louisiana First Team.
The LSWA teams, voted on by Sports Information Directors and media members in the state of Louisiana, are made up of the best athletes and coaches from Louisiana colleges and universities at all levels.
This is the 15th consecutive season in which the LSWA has honored at least one Loyola women's basketball player as one of Louisiana's best.
Cannady, the 2023 SSAC Player of the Year and an NAIA Third-Team All-American, is making her second appearance on one of the All-Louisiana teams after earning Third-Team honors LSWA Newcomer of the Year in 2021. She finished the season as the Wolf Pack's leader in scoring and rebounding with 15.6 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, with her rebounding average setting a new program record for a single season.
Hansberry, who was the SSAC Player of the Year last season, also earned her second career selection to an LSWA Team after being named Second-Team All-Louisiana in 2022. The Atlanta native led the Pack in assists (125), steals (60), and three-point percentage (39.3%) while finishing her career with the second-most total assists (481) in team history.
