Knights sweep Wolf Pack

The Loyola Wolf Pack baseball team and Middle Georgia finished their three-game Southern States Athletic Conference series on Friday

COCHRAN, Ga. – The Loyola University New Orleans baseball team suffered another loss to Middle Georgia State on Friday, as the Knights completed the sweep with a 14-3 win in seven innings. The 12th-ranked Wolf Pack will be back at Segnette Field on their next game, hosting an SSAC series against Blue Mountain Christian starting next Friday.

The Wolf Pack only managed two hits and five total base runners through the first five innings, with MGA building an 8-0 advantage in the meantime. Trailing 4-0, Loyola's Christopher Bohrer was hit by a pitch in the second inning and Jake Mills walked to put two on with two outs, but no runs were able to cross the plate to chip into the MGA lead. Cole Romero led off the fourth with a single and he was later caught stealing to help MGA pitcher face the minimum in the inning. Then, Landon Trosclair got a two-out single and Aaron Davis reached on a walk in the fifth, but again, the Knights got out of the jam.

Loyola got on the board in the sixth, though, as Luke Clement hit a solo home run to start the frame. Needing four runs to extend the game in the seventh, the Wolf Pack scored two on a two-RBI single by Clement with two outs. However, the Wolf Pack left three total baserunners stranded in scoring position in the last two innings.
