COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Loyola men's and women's swim teams completed the NAIA National Championships on Saturday, as two more school records were broken and another All-American was honored. As a team, the men took 13th place out of 22 teams while the women finished 16th out of 31.Â
Â
Tate Bladon and Harvey Quiddington each broke their own school records on Saturday, swimming in the 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard breaststroke, respectively. Bladon started the day with a 45.30 swim in his preliminary race, then his 44.62 in the evening finals was good enough for a school record and a third-place finish to earn All-Amerca honors. Quiddington placed 12th in the 200-yard breaststroke, breaking his own school record by slightly more than a second.Â
Â
Mya Baker and Emily Cooper also both competed during the final day of the national championship. Baker placed 10th in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:48.21, eight seconds shy of the school record, and Cooper earned a new personal-best time in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:11.58 to place 24th.Â
