NEW ORLEANS – The Loyola Wolf Pack men's tennis team faced its second NCAA Division-I opponent in a row on Wednesday, battling the University of New Orleans at the Privateer Tennis Center.
The Privateers won the match by an overall score of 7-0.
While the hosts took every singles match in straight sets, the Wolf Pack did make some noise in doubles, getting a win at the No. 1 position.
Francisco Javier Arce Vieyra and Samuel Motazed had an impressive result with a 6-4 doubles victory over UNO's top duo of Max Heinzel and Luke Joujan. Their win forced the doubles point to be decided by the Court 2 match, where Aubin Duchier and Hippolyte de Preville had a back-and-forth match, but were broken on serve late to drop a close one, 7-5.
Loyola now looks ahead to Saturday, Feb. 11, where the Pack will try to bounce back against NAIA No. 5-ranked Xavier. The match will be played at the XULA Tennis Center, scheduled to start at noon.
