TALLADEGA, Ala. – The 10th-ranked Loyola Wolf Pack women's basketball team improved their overall record to 21-1 after their sixth-straight victory over Talladega, which goes back to the 2014 season. With their conference record now at 14-1, the Wolf Pack remain comfortably in first place in the Southern States Athletic Conference standings by three games.

The Pack continues their SSAC battles on Thursday, Feb. 9, against Stillman College at 5:30 p.m. in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

In the first quarter, the Pack began with a 5-2 lead from a Sandra Cannady layup and a 3-point play by Kennedy Hansberry. While Talladega made a run, putting the score at 6-5, Loyola made it short-lived, gaining a 12-6 advantage with just over four minutes remaining in the first quarter. While the Pack and the Tornadoes traded shots, a Hansberry 3-pointer extended the Loyola lead to 19-10. In the final two minutes of the quarter, the Pack held the Tornadoes to two points, and a layup from Jazmene McMillan gave Loyola a 23-12 going into the second quarter.

With an 11-point lead going into the second quarter, the Pack looked to extend it. The Tornadoes needed to come back, but the Wolf Pack's defense was unrelenting. A Hansberry jumper, assisted by Taylor Thomas, put the Pack up 27-15. A big-time block by Sandra Cannady helped set up a Wolf Pack possession that included a 3-pointer from Tera Snell off a pass from Kennedy Hansberry, now 30-15. The Pack kept pushing, and free throws from Morgan Hervey and MG Lymon gave Loyola a 22-point lead entering the half, only allowing nine Talladega points, up 43-21.

The Pack remained unstoppable in the second half. A layup from Liz Critton kept the Pack up 22 points. A free throw, along with two layups from Jazmene McMillan off a Sydni Tangle steal gave Loyola a 51-26 lead with just under six minutes left in the third quarter. A 3 from Sandra Cannady and pair of free throws from Kennedy Hansberry created a 30-point lead for the Pack with just over three minutes remaining in the quarter. When the third quarter ended, Tay Cannon continued to play at a high level with 15 points and three rebounds.

Entering the fourth quarter, the Pack maintained their strong lead at 64-36. Kate Petrovic was the first member of the Pack to score, giving Loyola a 67-36 lead. A 3-point play from MG Lymon kept things going for the Wolf Pack with just under eight minutes remaining. The story of the first three quarters continued into the fourth with a rebound by Jada Washington helping to set up her own layup with 1:30 remaining. When the buzzer sounded, the Pack claimed a 79-51 victory over the Tornadoes.
