Box Score The Wolf Pack baseball team is back in action on Friday with a doubleheader against BPC Friday
MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – The Loyola University New Orleans baseball team saw its nine-game Southern States Athletic Conference winning streak get snapped on Thursday, losing the first game of the three-game series against Brewton-Parker, 8-4. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday starting at 12 p.m. CDT to conclude the series.
Loyola is now 30-19 overall and 15-7 in SSAC play, holding firm in the second-place position with two games to go in the regular season. The Wolf Pack holds a 1.5-game lead over third-place William Carey, which starts its series with Middle Georgia State on Friday, and the Pack owns the tiebreaker over the Crusaders.
BPC scored first with two runs in the first inning, but Payton Alexander tied the game with a two-run home run in the top of the third inning. After the bases got loaded in the same inning, Allen Dennis was hit by a pitch to give the Pack a 3-2 lead, however, BPC scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning to regain the lead, 4-3.
A solo home run by Gabriel Trastoy in the fifth inning tied the game once again, 4-4, but the Barons brought three more runs home in the next half inning to take a 7-4 advantage. BPC added another run in the seventh inning to extend the lead to 8-4.

With three hits against the Barons, Luke Clement has now reached base safely in 27 consecutive games. He's also on a 13-game hitting streak, with his last four games being multi-hit games.
With his single in the third inning, Allen Dennis brought his career hits total to 236, just four away from tying the all-time Wolf Pack record.
After striking out six batters on Thursday, Brenden Taravella is now at 205 career strikeouts. That's tied for second-most in a career in Loyola history.
With Gabriel Trastoy and Payton Alexander both knocking a ball over the fence, this was the 14th game this season in which the Wolf Pack had a t least two home runs.
