Box Score The No. 12 Loyola Wolf Pack snapped a three-game skid on Tuesday, defeating Louisiana Christian, 6-4, on the road
PINEVILLE, La. – The Loyola University New Orleans baseball team got back to its winning ways, snapping a three-game skid with a 6-4 win over Louisiana Christian on Tuesday. It was the fourth of the seven straight road games for the 12th-ranked Wolf Pack (10-9), and they'll now look forward to opening up Southern States Athletic Conference play this weekend with a three-game set at No. 6 Faulkner.
Loyola and Faulkner will play Game 1 on Friday at 6 p.m., then a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. concludes the series.
After a scoreless first inning, Loyola plated three in the top of the second off three hits and a walk. Ross Selvaggi started the free with a walk, then Kason Cullins singled before the next two Wolf Pack batters got out. With two on and two outs, Christopher Bohrer recorded his first of three hits, this being a home run, to quickly put Loyola up 3-0. Loyola kept adding to the lead, too, scoring two more runs in the next inning with another long ball. After Payton Alexander was hit by a pitch to start the frame, Loyola's home run king, Allen Dennis, smacked a two-run shot to put the Pack up 5-0.
Louisiana Christian scored two runs in the fifth, but Loyola got one run back in the next half-inning. Bohrer stayed hot with a double to start the inning, and he came around to score thanks to a double by Jake Mills, 6-2.
Brett Fisackerly got the start for the Wolf Pack and he faced the minimum through the first eight LCU batters before a double in the third inning. He got out of that inning with a line-out, then he had his third 1-2-3 frame in the fourth inning before allowing the two lone Wildcat runs in the fifth. Matthew Weil pitched three relief innings of one-hit ball, as he hit a batter and allowed a hit before getting out of the fifth without any more damage. He'd go on to pitch clean innings in the sixth and the seventh before handing the ball to Matthew Villa.
LCU was able to push one more run across in the eighth inning, but Brady Bowen entered to pitch and he struck out two over the next 1.1 innings to pick up the save.
