The Wolf Pack men's and women's programs had a combined 10 honored for their work in the classroom by the Mid-South Conference this week
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Mid-South Conference is set to host its annual conference championships this weekend, and on Monday and Tuesday it released its Champions of Character and All-Academic teams. A combined 10 Loyola student-athletes were honored in the process, as the two Wolf Pack programs gear up for the three-day swim meet beginning Thursday in Kingsport, Tennessee.
On Monday, the conference announced each school's Champions of Character representative, as Lauren Gill was honored on the women's team and Jackson Courville on the men's side. The MSC recognizes a Champions of Character Team for each championship sport. The student-athletes that are honored on the Champions of Character Team were nominated by their coaches based on their leadership on campus and in the community while demonstrating the five core character values of the NAIA.
On Tuesday, eight more were honored by the Mid-South Conference on the All-Academic teams. Joining Gill, Jamie Abernathy, Ella Balhoff, Melanie Dunnuck, Hannah Richard, Anna Sitzman, Eve Thomas and Ulrike Tovilla all met the criteria for the academic award. Kevin Sinanan and Courville both represented Loyola on the men's All-Academic team as well. In order to be nominated by an institution, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and must be in their third term or fourth quarter.
The Wolf Pack women's swim team enters this week's championship as the No. 7-ranked team in the NAIA, and the two Loyola programs are set to begin competition Thursday at the Kingsport Aquatic Center.
