Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball continues winning streak Saturday

The Loyola volleyball team made quick work of the Brewton-Parker Lady Barons on Saturday in The Den

NEW ORLEANS – The Loyola Wolf Pack claimed their fourth straight Southern States Athletic Conference win on Saturday, easily handling Brewton-Parker College in straight sets (25-12, 25-23, 25-10). With eight games left in the regular season, Loyola (15-9, 8-3 in SSAC) will next host Faulkner and Mobile next Friday and Saturday in The Den for crucial league matchups.

Loyola started the match by scoring the first four points with Brittany Cooper serving, getting two kills from Sydney Love and an ace by Cooper. Emily Sheperis kept the good serving going, notching two more service aces, 8-1, and Rebecca LaCour added another one to balloon the lead to 12-3. After BPC was able to put a few points together, 15-11, Preslie Boswell, Cooper and Sheperis helped stall the Barons' run, as well as aces by Simone Moreau and Gracie Bailey, to put the set out of reach for the visitors.

The second set was much closer, as Brewton-Parker scored the first three points and even took a 7-5 lead early. Kills by Boswell and Sheperis gave Loyola 1-point leads, but the Lady Barons kept tying the game. Holding a slim 11-10 advantage, attacks by Kala Emanuelli allowed the Pack to get ahead by a couple, however, the Lady Barons tied the set once again at 14-all. Trailing 17-15, Boswell recorded back-to-back kills to flip the lead on the scoreboard, but BPC, again, fought back to regain the 20-19 lead. Loyola wouldn't give up, though, fighting out a 23-20 deficit with attacks from Sheperis and Love and two Lady Baron errors made it a 2-0 lead in the match for the Pack.

The third set was much like the first, as the Pack built a 12-3 lead. Cooper served an ace and Love and Sheperis combined on a block in the early portion, then Bazemore recorded a solo block to make it a 6-2 score. Cooper and Bazemore totaled five kills over the next handful of points, 15-3, and kills by Bailey and Emanuelli kept the momentum in Loyola's favor, 20-7.  From there, Loyola easily finished off the match, as Sheperis added one more kill and one more ace down the stretch.
