Box Score The Loyola volleyball team played its first match since Hurricane Ida canceled the remaining schedule of the Wolf Pack Welcome Tournament, defeating Fisk University in three sets Tuesday
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Loyola University New Orleans volleyball team returned to the court Tuesday in a positive way, earning a three-set win (25-23, 25-11, 25-18) over Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. It was the first match in 11 days for Loyola after having the last four matches canceled due to Hurricane Ida.
Loyola evacuated New Orleans for Montgomery, Alabama, on Saturday, Aug. 28, and this match was scheduled last weekend to help put the Wolf Pack back on schedule after those four lost matches. The Wolf Pack's next scheduled match, a home date with crosstown rival Dillard on Friday, Sept. 10, is officially postponed as well.
The Wolf Pack had to knock off some rust on Tuesday, falling behind in the opening set 20-16 before a late push gave them the edge in Game 1. Riding the momentum of the Set 1 win, Loyola rolled over Fisk in Set 2, dominating en route to a 25-11 win to take a 2-0 match lead. The Bulldogs bounced back by keeping the third set close, but Loyola was able to pull away late to earn the match-sweep.
