Box Score 2 The Wolf Pack volleyball team traveled to Bowling Green, Kentucky, for four matches this weekend, playing two Friday

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Loyola Wolf Pack volleyball team played two matches at the Vette City Classic in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Friday, dropping two straight-set contests against Lindsey Wilson and Shawnee State. The Wolf Pack (2-4) returns to the court for two more matches Saturday starting at 9 a.m. against Georgetown College (Kentucky), then Loyola will conclude the tournament at 2 p.m. with a match against Pikeville (Kentucky).
Lindsey Wilson (RV) 3, Loyola 0 (25-22, 25-10, 25-18)
Loyola started the match with the first three points before Lindsey Wilson quickly tied the set, 4-4. Trailing 11-7, Simone Tyson recorded three straight kills, followed by an attack by Brittany Cooper to help tie the game at 11. LWC extended the advantage once again, 18-14, as it held on to a multiple-point lead for the rest of the set, winning the opening game 25-22.
Lindsey Wilson kept the momentum in the second set, taking the 2-0 match lead, then the Wolf Pack put up a good fight in the third set to keep it close. The Blue Raiders, however, held the lead for the majority of the game to win the match in straight sets.
Shawnee State 3, Loyola 0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-19)
Loyola played from behind for most of the first set, keeping the score close, 9-7, with a pair of kills each from Emily Sheperis and Kailyn O'Neal. Three errors by Shawnee State and back-to-back kills by Sheperis cut the deficit to 15-13, but the Bears jumped up 20-15 and scored five of the game's final seven points to take a 1-0 match lead.
In the second set, Brittany Cooper, Gabriela Martinez, Tyson and Sheperis all collected kills to bring the game to a 6-6 tie. Cooper picked up her second kill of the set moments later, and three more mistakes by the Bears put the Wolf Pack up 12-8. Shawnee State, however, retook the lead and pushed ahead 16-12. Attacks by O'Neal and Tyson brought the Bears' lead down to one, 19-18, and again, 21-20, but Shawnee State scored the final five points to claim the set.
The Bears raced out to an early third-set lead, 9-3, then held on to complete the sweep over the Wolf Pack.
Pack Facts
Simone Tyson led the Wolf Pack in the first game with eight kills on 15 tries and three errors to record a .333 hit percentage, the best percentage of the season for the sophomore.
Tyson also notched 11 digs in the second game, her fourth time in the six matches this season with at least 10 digs.
In her first action of the season, Dallis Brown led the team with eight digs against Lindsey Wilson to start the day.
Brittany Cooper led the Wolf Pack with nine kills in the second match of the day. She also recorded a .320 hit percentage, which is the best of the season for the junior and the third time this season with a .300 percentage or better.
Emily Sheperis' six total blocks in the two games Friday, giving her 23 through six matches this season. That puts the sophomore in the Top 5 nationally in that category.
